Cubes
How the Cube system works — special support gear for your characters in NIKKE.
Cubes are a special piece of equipment attached to each character to boost stats or trigger extra effects; there are several types (Resilience, Bastion, Onslaught, Healing, Quantum…) suited to different roles.
NIKKE has 14 Harmony Cubes in total, but most of your upgrade resources should go into a handful of genuinely worthwhile cubes rather than spreading thin. The Resilience Cube is the strongest default pick, fitting almost any character on your team — if you're only investing deeply in one cube first, this is it, and it's worth pushing to Lv15 through the Union Shop.
Beyond Resilience, which cube to run next depends on the character's role. The Bastion Cube is best for uptime, edging out Resilience slightly for characters with high max ammo — this group should prioritize Bastion over Resilience. The Relic Tempering Cube reduces damage taken, making it the best fit for characters playing tank or absorbing hits for the team. For characters that scale off Max HP to boost damage or healing (such as 2B, Rapunzel), Vigor (Relic Vigor) is a sensible pick since the added HP directly feeds their kit.
The Onslaught Cube is best-in-slot (BiS) for a handful of specific characters but fairly niche, so it shouldn't be treated as a universal pick. The Assault Cube, on the other hand, has been outclassed by other cubes and is no longer worth spending battery to upgrade.
Cubes are upgraded using battery obtained from the Union Shop — this is the main source for raising Harmony Cube levels. Since upgrade resources aren't unlimited, the efficient approach is to concentrate battery on one cube at a time before spreading to another, rather than leveling all 14 cubes evenly.
Following the priority order above, the Resilience Cube should be the first upgrade target, pushed to Lv15 through the Union Shop since it's the most broadly useful pick for any team. Once Resilience is set, route the next batch of battery toward whichever cube fits your character's specific role — Bastion for high max-ammo units, Relic Tempering for tanks/damage soakers, or Vigor for Max HP scalers.
Avoid pouring battery into the Assault Cube, since it's already been outclassed by other cubes; redirecting that battery toward a cube that actually serves your team's role is the better long-term investment.
