What is Pity in Wuthering Waves?

Every Convene has a 0.8% base chance of a 5★. You are guaranteed one within 80 pulls (hard pity), and community tracker data shows the rate climbing sharply from about pull 66 (soft pity). The character banner is a 50/50 — on the weapon banner the featured weapon is 100% guaranteed.

Pulls since your last 5★ on this banner (0–79).
Turn on if you lost your last 50/50 — your next 5★ is guaranteed to be the featured Resonator.

Weapon banner: the featured weapon is 100% guaranteed

Unlike most big gacha games, Wuthering Waves’ weapon banner has no 50/50 and no fail case: every 5★ you pull IS the featured weapon, with hard pity at 80. Pity also carries over to the next weapon banner.

How the pity system works

  • The base 5★ rate is 0.8% on both character and weapon banners; a 4★ or better is guaranteed every 10 pulls.
  • Hard pity: a 5★ is guaranteed within 80 pulls. Your pity counter carries over between banners of the same type.
  • Soft pity: community pull-tracker data shows the 5★ rate rising sharply from about pull 66 — roughly half of all 5★s land between pulls 66–74.
  • The character banner is a 50/50: lose it and your next 5★ is the featured Resonator, guaranteed. The weapon banner has no 50/50 — the featured weapon is always guaranteed.
Quick guide
This tool reads the pity count you already see in Convene History and turns it into real numbers: your odds of pulling the featured 5-star next Convene, plus the odds across however many pulls you're planning. Character banners carry a 50/50 guarantee toggle for a prior loss; weapon banners skip the toggle, since every 5-star there is already the featured one.

What the pity calculator computes

Enter your current pity (pulls since your last 5-star) and how many pulls you're planning, and the tool returns two things: the chance the featured 5-star shows up on your very next pull from that pity count, and the chance across the whole batch you enter. Both numbers come from the same odds table the game itself uses — base rate, hard pity, and the soft-pity ramp in between — so what you see here should track what actually happens in your Convene History.

The result is shown as expected outcome alongside a worst-case read, since pity math is a distribution, not a guarantee below hard pity.

Reading your pity from Convene History

Your pity count is simply the number of pulls on that specific banner since your last 5-star, and Convene History shows every pull in order — count from the bottom of your most recent 5-star (or from zero if you haven't pulled one yet on this banner type). Character and weapon banners each keep their own pity counter, and pity carries over between different character banners as long as you keep pulling on that banner category, so a fresh character banner does not reset you to zero.

The guarantee toggle only applies to character banners: switch it on if your last 5-star on a character banner was a losing 50/50 (a standard character instead of the featured one), since that guarantees your very next 5-star is the featured one.

Character banner 50/50 vs. weapon banner

On character banners, every 5-star is a 50/50: half the time it's the featured Resonator, half the time it's a random standard 5-star instead. Lose that coin flip and the guarantee locks in — your next character 5-star is featured for certain. Weapon banners work differently and don't need a toggle at all: there's no 50/50 to lose, every 5-star pulled on a weapon banner is the featured weapon, full stop.

Both banner types share the same base rate, hard pity, and soft-pity behavior underneath — the only thing that changes is whether a coin flip sits between hitting 5-star and getting the piece you actually want.

The odds behind the numbers

The base rate for a 5-star is 0.8% on every pull, on both character and weapon banners — that number and the hard pity at pull 80 are official rates Kuro Games has published. Soft pity climbs sharply somewhere before that; the widely-cited ~pull 66 starting point comes from community tracker data, not an official Kuro figure. Alongside that, a 4-star or better is guaranteed at least once every 10 pulls, regardless of where your 5-star pity sits.

The 0.8% base and pull-80 hard pity are cross-checked against Kuro's own published rates, and the calculator's math behind them has been verified against 15 separate known-answer pity scenarios before being shipped on this page.

FAQ

Where do I find my current pity count?
Open Convene History in-game on the banner you're checking and count the pulls since your last 5-star — that count is your current pity, ready to type straight into the tool above.
Do I need the guarantee toggle for weapon banners?
No. Weapon banners never lose a 50/50 in the first place — every 5-star pulled there is the featured weapon, so the toggle simply doesn't apply and the tool skips it on that banner type.
Does pity reset when a new character banner starts?
No, pity carries over across different character banners as long as you keep pulling within that same banner category — only the separate Standard banner keeps its own independent counter.
How accurate are the probability numbers this tool shows?
The math runs on Kuro's own published rates for the parts that are official — 0.8% base and hard pity at 80 — while the soft-pity start around pull 66 comes from community tracker data, not an official number. It's all been verified against 15 known-answer pity scenarios, so the output matches the same odds the game applies to your account.
