Upcoming Resonators

Quick guide
Wuthering Waves currently has 56 Resonators, each with its own character page, covering all 6 elements — Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro and Havoc — and all 5 weapon types. This page is the entry point to every one of them: filter the roster, find your free starters, and jump into the full build for any Resonator you want to invest in.

How to read the roster grid

Every card in the grid represents one Resonator, and three filters sit above it: Rarity (5★ or 4★), Element (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and Weapon (Sword, Broadblade, Pistols, Gauntlets, Rectifier). Combine them — for example 5★ + Aero — to narrow 56 Resonators down to a shortlist in seconds. Rover, the protagonist, shows up once per element since Rover can switch elements freely; every other Resonator is locked to one fixed element and one fixed weapon type. Click any card to open that Resonator's own page, which carries the weapons, Echo sets and team comps for that specific build.

Rover: the free multi-element protagonist

Rover is the one Resonator every player owns for free from account creation, and the only one that can switch elements instead of being locked to a single one. Rover starts as Spectro, unlocks Havoc after finishing Chapter 1 Act 6, and gains Aero later in the story (version 2.x content). Switching costs nothing once unlocked, so Rover can flex into a Spectro sub-DPS, a Havoc main DPS, or an Aero support depending on which team needs it — one of the most flexible free units in the whole roster.

Free characters and best picks for new players

Besides Rover, new players start with or can obtain for free: Yangyang, Chixia and Baizhi, plus Sanhua through a limited-time login event. At Union Level 45, a one-time selector hands out a free 5★ standard weapon — Emerald of Genesis, Cosmic Ripples or Static Mist are the strongest picks, all clearly ahead of Lustrous Razor or Abyss Surges. The standard 5★ character pool (Verina, Encore, Calcharo, Lingyang, Jianxin) is also worth saving Astrite for — Verina in particular is considered the best standard support in the game.

Choosing who to build

With 56 Resonators to pick from, deciding who to invest Echo, weapon and Resonance Chain materials into matters more than owning everyone. Check the tier list first to see current SS/S-tier Resonators and recommended teams, then open that character's own page — every one carries a full build: BiS and F2P weapon options, best Echo sets with cost setup, and 3-member team comps built around Concerto Energy swaps and Outro/Intro chains.

Version 3.5 roadmap

Version 3.5, Blade of Past Resounds, Lingering Dream Hymns, opens the Mengzhou region and adds two new Resonators across two phases. Phase 1 introduces Yangyang: Xuanling, a Havoc Sword Resonator built from the free Yangyang, alongside reruns for Lynae and Luuk Herssen. Phase 2 brings Suisui, a Glacio Rectifier healer, together with a rerun for Aemeath. Both new units will get tier and build coverage on their own pages once they go live.

FAQ

How many Resonators are in Wuthering Waves?
56 Resonators are currently in the game, each with its own character page — Rover, the free multi-element protagonist, gets a separate page for every element it has unlocked.
Is Rover free, and can I change its element?
Yes. Rover is free from the start and the only Resonator that can switch elements: Spectro is available immediately, Havoc unlocks after Chapter 1 Act 6, and Aero comes later in the story.
Which Resonators should a free-to-play player build first?
Start with Rover, Yangyang, Chixia and Baizhi, add Sanhua if you caught her login event, then spend Astrite on the standard 5★ pool — Verina, Encore, Calcharo, Lingyang or Jianxin — before chasing limited banners.
What's new in version 3.5?
Version 3.5 opens the Mengzhou region and adds two Resonators in two phases: Yangyang: Xuanling, a Havoc Sword unit, alongside Lynae and Luuk Herssen reruns, followed by Suisui, a Glacio Rectifier healer, with an Aemeath rerun.
