Quick guide
NTE's official bestiary holds 35 curated entries out of roughly 400 monster instances that actually populate the city and its Anomaly Realms — this guide explains how a bestiary page is built before and after you've fought the thing in it, what the location line and stamina cost are actually telling you to prepare, and why 35 curated slots exist instead of a page for every monster in the world.

35 Curated Entries Across 4 Threat Tiers

The official bestiary is a curated layer sitting on top of the roughly 400 raw monster instances that actually populate NTE's city and its Anomaly Realms — not every spawn variant gets its own page, only 35 do.

  • 21 Normal — the common tier making up the bulk of the list.
  • 5 Elite — tougher standard variants worth extra caution.
  • 2 Boss — standalone named threats with their own arena/encounter.
  • 7 Weekly Boss — high-value targets tied to a rotating or time-gated challenge rather than a free-roam encounter.

Knowing which of the 4 tiers an entry belongs to before walking in tells you roughly what kind of encounter to expect, without needing to read the full lore first.

Two Descriptions: One Before You've Met It, One After

Every bestiary entry actually carries two separate description fields, and which one shows depends on whether you've encountered that target yet.

  • Undiscovered: a short, deliberately vague flavor line — enough to hint at the creature's nature without spoiling its backstory or role in the world.
  • Discovered: unlocked only after you've fought or encountered the target at least once — this is the fuller lore entry, sometimes including gameplay hints tied to that Anomaly.

If an entry on this page looks thin, that's not a stub or missing content — it's the Undiscovered version, and it's supposed to stay that way until the target has actually been met in the field.

Reading an Entry as a Pre-Fight Briefing

A bestiary entry isn't just a trophy case — it's built to be read before you go pick the fight.

  • Location line: tells you the actual area to travel to, not just a vague region — useful for planning a route instead of wandering the map hoping to stumble into an encounter.
  • Stamina cost: some entries carry an exploration stamina figure attached to reaching or engaging the target, separate from HP — factor that into whether it's worth the trip right now.
  • Drop pointer: links off to what the target actually drops, so the decision to chase it can be made on loot value rather than curiosity alone.

Read together, those three fields turn a bestiary page into a quick go/no-go check before committing to the trip.

FAQ

A bestiary entry shows a vague one-liner instead of a real description — is something missing?
No — that's the Undiscovered description, shown before you've fought or encountered that target. It unlocks into a fuller Discovered entry once you've actually met it in the field.
How many monsters does NTE actually have — is it really just 35?
35 is just the curated official bestiary — the underlying world runs on roughly 400 raw monster instances (including Abyss-mode variants). Not every spawn variant earns its own bestiary page; the 35 are the ones deemed worth a dedicated entry.
What does the Weekly Boss tag actually tell me, differently from a regular Boss?
A Boss is a standalone named threat with its own encounter, available whenever you go looking for it — of which there are 2 in the bestiary. A Weekly Boss (7 in the bestiary) is instead tied to a rotating or time-gated challenge, so availability depends on the current rotation rather than free-roam access.
